About Chang's Taekwondo America
We are a traditional family martial arts training academy offering Taekwondo training for children, adults, and families.
Our location is 230 Pleasant Street, Methuen. We are a short drive via Interstates 495 and 93 whether you are coming from Haverhill, Lawrence, North Andover, Pelham NH, or surrounding cities and towns. Take Route 213 exit 4, just after the Rite-Aid.
Founded in 2002, we are honored to deliver Taekwondo training to build our students' mental and physical fitness, self-confidence, and commitment to the Five Tenets of Taekwondo: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverence, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit.
Our children's programs include Taekwondo classes for Tiny Cubs, Tiny Lions, and School-age children. Our A+ After-School and Summer Camp programs for age 6-14 provide working parents a state-licensed child care service with pickup as late as 6 pm.
Our Taekwondo classes for adults provide a great workout in a fun, challenging class format that will increase your overall fitness and mental focus. Each student begins at a different place, but we all work together in class to challenge and encourage eachother. Whether you are already an athlete or are looking for ways to overcome a sedentary lifestyle, you will increase in Speed, Strength, Balance, Flexibility, and Endurance. Students range in age from their teens to their sixties. Our flexible schedule allows you to train on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. Our students commit to attending a minimum of two classes per week (for best results we recommend you attend three or more times per week). Get started by enrolling in our Web Promo Trial Program.
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that is not only kicking and punching, but also a way of thinking and living. The five tenets of Taekwondo are Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverence, Self Control, and Indomitable Spirit. Taekwondo is an official Olympic sport and is also the most popular martial art in the world. Relatively new to the United States, Taekwondo is sometimes confused with the Japanese martial art called karate. While there are similarities with karate, Taekwondo is primarily known for its kicks, especially jumping and spinning kicks. Taekwondo is grounded in action philosophy with emphasis on control of one's mind and body, respect for others, and always doing your best. It is perfectly suited to boys, girls, men, and women of all ages and skill levels.
We offer the form of Taekwondo that is governed by World Taekwondo (WT), headquartered in the Kukkiwon in Seoul, South Korea. Our program includes "hoshinsul" self-defense techniques, taekwondo "poomse" (forms), sparring, fitness, and board-breaking. Belt testing is six times per year, with Black belt testing in May and November. Our black belts receive a traditional Black Belt tea ceremony to commemorate and recognize the candidate's achievemement. Wherever you are in your journey, Taekwondo will help you achieve your best in whatever goals you set for your life.

Martial arts training is serious business to us, our black belts will be able to take the necessary action needed to protect themselves or somebody else as a last resort. We are saving lives one black belt at a time.
